How to install X11 or X window system in minix 3

Hey guys,

I am new to minix. And I have a assignment in my hand in which I have been asked to install X11 in minix3. I have tried to do it but i haven't succeed. So if anyone provide me the steps I should follow to install X11 on my minix that will be helpful. I am running minix on virtual box.

Also when I try to install X11 it says it is already in its newest version but when I type xdm on the command prompt it says command not found.

Please reply ASAP

If you don't mind a few questions...

• What version of MINIX (for example, 3.1.2a, 3.1.7, 3.2.0, 3.2.1, etc.) is this?

• Which package of X11 is installed?

• What commands did you use to install X11?

• What happens when you type "startx" and press Enter?

• What is in your PATH (try: echo $PATH) variable?

• If appropriate, what user and group does your account use?

• What kinds of changes have you made to MINIX, if any?

It would also help to know what messages appeared on the terminal at that time and during later attempts.
