[GUIDE] How to fix the new Mineshafter launcher problem

1. Go to the Windows start menu

2. Type in %appdata% and press Enter on your keyboard

3. Delete the .minecraft folder (Backup the folder if you want to keep it)

4. Download the the new Mineshafter launcher here (Skip this step if you already have)

5. Double-click on the Mineshafter-launcher.jar

6. Insert your Mineshafter username and password in the bottom right-hand corner (If you haven't created a Mineshafter account click here)

7. Click on Play

8. Wait it for it create a new .minecraft folder and download the new Minecraft files

9. Enjoy!

If you have any cracked 1.6.1 Minecraft to suggest, please post it below!

This is based on Windows. It's probably since Windows 8 has a different design to Windows 7 and Vista. Can you take a screen of what your desktop looks like? Maybe I can find the Start Menu.

I just found a picture of the Windows 8 desktop. OK, double click on the Recycle Bin. See the bar next to the 2 arrow buttons? Click on the bar and type in %appdata%. You are now in %appdata% (I assume). When you're there keep following the guide.

This guide should 95% work for people. The reason why it works is it because, when you first try to use the new launcher it uses the old Minecraft files (1.5.2). To make it generate and use the new files, you remove have to remove the old .minecraft folder from %appdata%. Then you open up the new Mineshafter launcher and click on Play. Since the profile settings is already set to "Use the latest version" it will download the new Minecraft files which is "1.6.2". Restarting the Mineshafter launcher will never download the update (1.6.2) for you.

Yes, it was a different problem now that you make it clearer. My problem was the incorrect "1.6.2.jar" file Mineshafter keeps complaining about., so i replaced it using the .jar file i got from the link the console was happy enough to provide me with.

You need to wait for it to load up. Don't close it after like 5-10 minutes.

You need to force close the Mineshafter launcher. To do that open Task Manager by pressing the Ctrl, Alt and Del and then clicking on Task Manager. Go to the Processes tab, search for javaw.exe, click on it and then click on End Process. If you can't find javaw.exe, what does it say when you try to delete the .minecraft folder.

Has your new .minecraft folder been generated? To check press both Ctrl and R, type %appdata% and then check if the new .minecraft has been generated by the Mineshafter launcher.

I checked if it generated a new .minecraft it did but i'm not sure it contained the following : launcher.pack.lzma launcher_mcpatched.jar and launcher.jar is it correct??

Try setting a new username and password at mineshafter.info

Try downloading that file, and place it in the Resources folder of the .minecraft folder.

I use Mac, and I have a problem.
This is the exact way I did it.
Did no deleting, anything..
1. Went to Mineshafter.info and downloaded the newww launcher
2. I opened it and nothing happened it was just a white screen.
