The printmaking group from UWM would like to rent a paving roller to create huge prints at Maker Faire.  They don't have a trailer to haul it though.  The roller is about 40" wide and weighs about 2500 lbs.  Does anyone have the ability to bring it to the faire on Friday (Sep 23) and return it on Monday (Sep 26?)  This was a huge hit last year and transportation is the only thing that is preventing this from happening this year.

I think this is the roller model they would like to rent:

It's coming from Herc Rentals at 950 W Rawson Ave, Oak Creek, WI 53154.

Scroll down about 1/3 of this page to see John's photos of the roller printing at last year's Maker Faire:

Please reply to this message if you can help them make roller prints happen this year at the faire and I'll get you in touch with them.  Thanks!

They have found a new rental company closer to State Fair Park that will load the roller onto their trailer.  The printmakers are now looking for someone to pull the trailer with the roller to and from Lincoln Contractor Supply:

The trailer is 3500lbs with electric brakes and can either have a 2" ball or pintle hitch.  The trailer would need to be picked up before 4:00pm on Friday, September 23 and returned before 7:30am on Monday, September 26th.

If you can help, please reply to this message and I'll get you in touch with them.  Thanks!

Maybe rent a truck from Uhaul? Most of their trucks have hitches, and are spec'ed with "Towing capacity: up to 6,000 pounds".

Just don't tell them you are going to haul someone else's trailer :-)
They can be a little pick about that.

They are a group of art students and volunteer artists.  Their budget is basically free beverages to volunteers.  The roller rental and trailer has been donated to them.  If someone wants to cover the cost of a truck rental I'm sure they would be happy to accept the donation.  If a donor doesn't want to post to the list, feel free to reply privately to me and I'll get you in touch with them.
