Hello Milwaukee Makerspace!
My name is Brett Rohlwing and I am the Patents and Trademarks Librarian at Milwaukee Public Library-Central, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave. in downtown Milwaukee. (I am also a Bay View resident, not far from the Milwaukee Makerspace!)
The Milwaukee Public Library is designated by the United States Patent and Trademark Organization as a Patent and Trademark Resource Center (PTRC), a distinction held by 84 libraries across the nation. As such, we provide resources and instruction in using the USPTO’s resources, including the patent and trademark databases, application tools, and other materials.
As makers and innovators, you may have considered pursuing a patent or some other form of intellectual property protection for your creations. As such, we at MPL are excited to announce a program called Intellectual Property for Innovators! This program will have as its featured speaker Dr. Christal Sheppard, Director of the Elijah J. McCoy United States Patent and Trademark Office in Detroit!
Dr. Sheppard will be presenting on intellectual property concepts and how you can get protection for your inventions with the help of the Regional USPTO Office.
This program is at 1 PM on Monday, July 18, at MPL Central in Community Room 1 (1st floor of Central Library). It is a rare opportunity to meet and speak to an official from the USPTO! She will be ready for your questions and comments upon completion of her presentation.
I have attached a digital copy of the flyer for this program. May I ask that you forward this to your membership, via listserv, message board, website etc. If you would like paper copies, please contact me ASAP so I can arrange for you to receive some.
Thanks in advance for your help in getting the word out about this unique program!
Cheers,
Brett Rohlwing
