As long as I can remember we've had two containers of these LED modules.  They were likely status lights for a generator control panel.  They have two LEDs, one red and one green, and a socket on the back.  The socket comes off rather easily and the pins that remain appear to be 0.1" spacing.

We have 100+ of these and the colors make them perfect for Christmas.  There's plenty of simple dual flasher circuit schematics out there that use general purpose transistors, caps and resistors.  DL already offered up some watch batteries we could use.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to dress them up?  Make them into ornaments?  Wearables?  Laser cut some clear acrylic to mount it on?

As long as we come up with a plan and supplies, we can assemble them during the Make-A-Thon.

Brant,
I think your idea is an excellent one.  I'd suggest using the same approach you mentioned: the two-transistor RC circuit.
Here's an example of the circuit: http://www.sentex.ca/~mec1995/circ/flash2.gif
However, it specifies a 9V battery, not a watch battery. Also, I'm not sure how many of the 2n3904 or 2n2222 transistors we have laying around.

Hey All,

Thought it may be relevant to drop a line here about my kickstarter for a circuit board that makes EL wire, panels, paint touch sensitive.

The response has been pretty positive, but we need one final push to make the goal: http://kck.st/2c2ZoXq

Would appreciate help in getting the word out/reminding people that this ends on monday!
