I am horribly behind on updating my web site and it occurs to me that the big problem is the time it takes to produce the stuff I want to put on the page.  I lean heavily on text because visually editing images is a slow, tedious process with software I have available.  I'd like to produce things that are more like powerpoint presentations, but the drawing process is in that type of software is painfully slow.

It occurs to me that if I could capture hand written images, either a white board or sketch pad, I could go much faster because, well, a picture is worth a thousand words.  I can draw on a whiteboard or a sketchpad and shoot a photo of the drawing, but I'd also like to be able to draw rapidly on photos to make arrows and annotations, etc.

Is there anything like that out there or am I looking at 3 of 4 different pieces of software?

Any suggestions?

Perhaps a tablet with a stylus would work for you. The Jot Pro looks like it works with ios and android. The price is pretty good as well. Then you just need an app to pull in the pictures so that you can annotate them.

That might be a good way to go.  I'll do some research.  Thanks!

I have a Livescribe pen that got me through dental school.  It records notes on paper and makes a copy on the computer, but it can't mark up photos, and I'd prefer to use lots of photos and drawings over lots of text.  A couple arrows and circles on a photo can replace a lot of text.

Take a look at Paper by FiftyThree for sketching and annotating. I have a Jot Pro stylus you are welcome to borrow if you'd like to try it.

After reviewing the available options, I decided to go with a Livescribe Echo pen.  I used an older model, which has long since died, to get through dental school and really liked it back then.  Improvements to the software look like it will do most of what I want/need.  I also have a few notebooks for it waiting to be used.

I'll still have to mark up photos some other way- probably just use the paint dialogs in either GIMP or Irfanview.
