Dear Stephen,

If you are running mysql 5.6 then part of your dependency is met. To
install oracle java8 (if you have openjdk-8-jre installed, it should be
alright) you need to follow a process. That is the next dependency. The
.deb package has tomcat server already embeded in it. The .deb package will
ask some fundamental question and do the necessary configuration and
populate the database. I just realise that server.xml files is not named
properly. you can just rename the file in /opt/mifos.tomcat/conf directory.
I will fix it in the next fineract release. The .deb package will not start
tomcat server. You can manually start the tomcat server for the first time
using service tomcat7 start.

That is all it requires.

Warmest regards,
Immanuel

Hello Community -

Does anyone have a good work-around for a transaction that debits a general ledger account and credits a member account?

I know this is not a transaction capability currently in Mifos X. See https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FINERACT-232 <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FINERACT-232>

I am seeking to debit GL, credit client

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thank you!

Hi all,

Based on the level of interest in acting as mentors from across the
community, I will be applying for GCI as the Mifos Initiative.

For all those who've expressed an interest in mentoring, I want to
emphasize once more how involved you must be - we need to have hundreds of
tasks and be extremely prompt in reviewing completed tasks. If we are able
to get accepted, we will be notified on November 7 and will have 3 weeks to
build out our initial list of tasks which should be 200+ to start.

Hi Dayna,

Have you created a GL for each client?

What is the real use case? Is it impacting Savings/Loan account transaction?

Sure Ed,

Please use the label "GCI" to tag Google Code-In tasks, refer this link
<https://mifosforge.jira.com/browse/MIFOSX-1811?jql=project%20%3D%20MIFOSX%20AND%20status%20in%20(Open%2C%20Reopened%2C%20%22To%20Do%22)%20AND%20resolution%20%3D%20Unresolved%20AND%20labels%20%3D%20GCI%20ORDER%20BY%20priority%20DESC%2C%20updated%20DESC>
for
reference.

As Ed said, tasks need to me simple, introductory and can be doable within
1 to 2 days and need not restrict to only coding, it could be cleaning of
user manuals, installation guides or other training materials, please refer
example tasks given by GCI at "bite-sized tasks
<https://developers.google.com/open-source/gci/resources/example-tasks>"

Hello -

The real use scenario is that in Belize, customers can make ?bill payments? at a bank to a merchant account. One of these merchants is a local credit union for deposits and/or loan payments.

The credit union debits the bank account general ledger cash account and credits the customer?s account directly. The challenge is that the current design of the general ledger system in Mifos X does not allow a direct GL posting in a customer account. Since this is a fairly common transaction in a financial institution, I am wondering what a good work around for this GL to Customer transaction would be until such a time as the Mifos general ledger system can manage this sort of account.

Thank you for your insights. I appreciate it!

-Dayna

Hey Nayan,

I know that it would be simpler to have all of our GCI issues in one
tracker but given the transition to Apache Fineract of the Mifos X platform
that's already not possible since Apache Fineract contains all platform
issues and other issues are still in MifosForge.

I will start a larger thread about this later on but going forward in
efforts to clean up our issue management infrastructure, we are seeking to
use github projects to track issues related to the Mifos X Web and Mobile
Apps.

So our coding-related issues for GCI will be split across several issue
trackers (each one however we can use the label GCI as you have mentioned):

- Apache Fineract (platform) -
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FINERACT/
- Mifos X Web App (community app) -
https://github.com/openMF/community-app/issues
- MIfos X Field Officer Mobile App -
https://github.com/openMF/android-client/issues
- MIfos X Android Self-Service App -
https://github.com/openMF/self-service-app/issues

All that being said, since the primary place in go to get GCI tasks and
where we approve them is the portal maintained by Google, I don't think
it'll be an issue to not have them all in one centralized place.
