Yeah I tried with tomcat 7.0.64 too - same issue I am facing.
I am using credetials as mifos / password as suggested in the doc - can u please confirm thats right?
I see there is mifos and system user in m_app_user table but password is encrypted - how do I decrypt it?

Following were there discussion points -
1) I am following https://mifosforge.jira.com/wiki/display/docs/Mifos+X+Installation+on+Linux+-+Ubuntu+Server <https://mifosforge.jira.com/wiki/display/docs/Mifos+X+Installation+on+Linux+-+Ubuntu+Server> guide to do installation on mac. The installation guide for mac seems to be quite old.
2) I am more interested in setting up developer setup than end user one so Shreyaank guided me to use the https://github.com/openMF/mifosx/wiki <https://github.com/openMF/mifosx/wiki> guidelines to do the same.
3) Is there anyone who has tried the latest setup on mac OS Sierra? I have reached to a point where I see there are no errors but I am not able to login to the application - it keeps on prompting me for user id and password again and again where as I am providing the one as mifos / password as suggested in the documentation. What I could verify from database is - I see mifos user is present in m_app_user table but I am not able to decipher its password since its encrypted.

When Migrating Opening Balances, the following error was received:
error.msg.journalentry.defining.openingbalance.not.allowed
I am logged in with SuperUser privilege and verified permissions.
Clients, savings and loan balances have been migrated, but no transactions have been made on any accounts.
Have verified the instructions found on wiki and in Answer Hub - Any suggestions?
Is there another setting that must be verified or set to allow this function?

Hi Dayna,
The Migrate Opening Balances will not work if the database is already
having transaction entries, this is the existing behavior. It will works
fine for the fresh database with no transaction entries.
If any migration happens, then in the new database the opening balances
need to be defined. After migration the entries will be carried forward to
the new database in which opening balances are defined.
*Note: * There should not be any other transactions apart from opening
balance journal entries.

Ok Shreyaank. Then how do we add funds to an account that had nothing in it after transactions have been posted to other accounts in journal entries already.

I am logged in with SuperUser privilege and verified permissions.
Clients, savings and loan balances have been migrated, but no transactions have been made on any accounts.
Have verified the instructions found on wiki and in Answer Hub - Any suggestions?
Is there another setting that must be verified or set to allow this function?

Hi Avinash
It seems as you have database connection problem since driverClassName
of Drizzle is missing in your server.xml
Make sure the server.xml is exactly as how it is instructed at
https://mifosforge.jira.com/wiki/display/docs/Mifos+X+Installation+on+Linux+-+Ubuntu+Server.
And don't forget to download drizzle jdbc connector and put it under lib
folder of tomcat7.

Hi Dayna,
The Migrate Opening Balances will not work if the database is already having transaction entries, this is the existing behavior. It will works fine for the fresh database with no transaction entries.
If any migration happens, then in the new database the opening balances need to be defined. After migration the entries will be carried forward to the new database in which opening balances are defined.
Note: There should not be any other transactions apart from opening balance journal entries.

Yeah I tried with tomcat 7.0.64 too - same issue I am facing.
I am using credetials as mifos / password as suggested in the doc - can u please confirm thats right?
I see there is mifos and system user in m_app_user table but password is encrypted - how do I decrypt it?

Following were there discussion points -
1) I am following https://mifosforge.jira.com/wiki/display/docs/Mifos+X+Installation+on+Linux+-+Ubuntu+Server <https://mifosforge.jira.com/wiki/display/docs/Mifos+X+Installation+on+Linux+-+Ubuntu+Server> guide to do installation on mac. The installation guide for mac seems to be quite old.
2) I am more interested in setting up developer setup than end user one so Shreyaank guided me to use the https://github.com/openMF/mifosx/wiki <https://github.com/openMF/mifosx/wiki> guidelines to do the same.
3) Is there anyone who has tried the latest setup on mac OS Sierra? I have reached to a point where I see there are no errors but I am not able to login to the application - it keeps on prompting me for user id and password again and again where as I am providing the one as mifos / password as suggested in the documentation. What I could verify from database is - I see mifos user is present in m_app_user table but I am not able to decipher its password since its encrypted.

error.msg.journalentry.defining.openingbalance.not.allowed
I am logged in with SuperUser privilege and verified permissions.
Clients, savings and loan balances have been migrated, but no transactions have been made on any accounts.
Have verified the instructions found on wiki and in Answer Hub - Any suggestions?
Is there another setting that must be verified or set to allow this function?

Hi Dayna,
The Migrate Opening Balances will not work if the database is already
having transaction entries, this is the existing behavior. It will works
fine for the fresh database with no transaction entries.
If any migration happens, then in the new database the opening balances
need to be defined. After migration the entries will be carried forward to
the new database in which opening balances are defined.
*Note: * There should not be any other transactions apart from opening
balance journal entries.

It seems as you have database connection problem since driverClassName
of Drizzle is missing in your server.xml
Make sure the server.xml is exactly as how it is instructed at
https://mifosforge.jira.com/wiki/display/docs/Mifos+X+Installation+on+Linux+-+Ubuntu+Server.
And don't forget to download drizzle jdbc connector and put it under lib

Hi Dayna,
The Migrate Opening Balances will not work if the database is already having transaction entries, this is the existing behavior. It will works fine for the fresh database with no transaction entries.
If any migration happens, then in the new database the opening balances need to be defined. After migration the entries will be carried forward to the new database in which opening balances are defined.
Note: There should not be any other transactions apart from opening balance journal entries.

I am logged in with SuperUser privilege and verified permissions.
Clients, savings and loan balances have been migrated, but no transactions have been made on any accounts.
Have verified the instructions found on wiki and in Answer Hub - Any suggestions?
Is there another setting that must be verified or set to allow this function?
