Hi everyone,

As we continue to make the transition to Apache, I want to alleviate some
of the confusion around which infrastructure should be used.

I've posted to the Mifos blog a brief overview of where you should go for
source code, which mailing lists should be used, and which issue trackers
should be used.

*Please review the post
at http://mifos.org/blog/infrastructure-apache-mifosx/
<http://mifos.org/blog/infrastructure-apache-mifosx/>*

A few quick takeways:

*Mailing Lists*
If you're not sure where to post, post to one of the Apache user or dev
lists. If it's not the right place, we'll forward it to the proper list.
Anything related to development or technical issues on the Apache Fineract
platform should go to Apache Fineract dev list. Anything about
functionality or design of new features on the platform should go to the
Apache Fineract Users list.

Any technical or development-related questions for the web app or the
mobile apps should stay on the Mifos Developer's list. Questions about
using the Mifos X web app or mobile apps should go to the Mifos User's list.

*Issue Trackers*
The biggest change to note here is that we're no longer using MifosForge (
https://mifosforge.jira.com/projects/MIFOSX/issues) for reporting new
active issues. MifosForge is now just an archive and all existing open
issues have been moved (except for a few recent ones) to the new issue
trackers we're using.

If you have an issue or feature request related to the Apache Fineract
platform, report it at https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FINERACT

We're using GitHub issues for issues/feature requests related to any of the
web apps, mobile apps, or modules that are part of the Mifos X
distribution. Report it to the respective issues page for that repository.
The only area that might be confusing is issues related to reporting. Any
reporting related issues should go to the GitHub issue tracker for the
Mifos X web app (community app) at
https://github.com/openMF/community-app/issues

Message me if you have any questions.

This year we had the honor of participating in Google Code-In and got to
help introduce students to the world of open source.

Check out our blog to learn more about our five finalists and some of the
lessons they learned:

http://mifos.org/blog/2016-google-code-in-wrap-up/

Here are a few nice quotes from the students:

*Grand Prize Winner Dhruv, a 9th grader from India:*

*"*My biggest challenge that i overcame this summer was to learn to code, I
already had interest in computer science and I wanted to share my
creativity and imaginations to the world. So I began to learn to code and
it was a fantastic experience and something that I would cherish for a long
long time."

*Finalist Justin (and Grand Prize Winner for Wikimedia), an 11th grader
from Memphis, TN:*

"Do not worry about the competition. Use it instead as a way to learn as
much as you can when these mentors give up the time to. They are friendly,
extremely filled with knowledge, and ready to help. However, do not be
lazy. Try your best to learn it yourself. You have a much more concrete
understanding that way."

*Finalist Tan, a 10th grader from Turkey:*
"My advice is one that applies to all GCI participants: The number of tasks
you complete doesn?t matter. When taking a task, you shouldn?t just be
considering how easy it is for you but what it will contribute to the
organization and to yourself."

Thank you to everyone who participated in the developer meeting we had last
week on February 2. You can view a screencast at
https://youtu.be/u8jvSYfVh4w

We made good progress in discussing our ideas list for the 2017 Google
Summer of Code.

You can view the list at
https://mifosforge.jira.com/wiki/display/RES/Google+Summer+of+Code+2017+Ideas

It's near being final but please send any thoughts or feedback you have.

Our application is due February 9 and we'll hear back on February 27 about
its status.

Cheers,

Ed

Mohit as well as Duplex,

Thanks for all the fixes you all are making.

Nazeer,

I believe Mohit has been merging all the incoming PRs. Can we build and
deploy this to the https://demo.openmf.org/newbeta/ demo server so I can
continue testing?

Hi Nazeer

I think you need to re install npm and bower dependencies again. Above demo
server just ends up loading the spinner.

Hi Mohit,

I have reinstalled npm, bower and bundle also. Do you see any issue with this deployment?

Thanks,

Nazeer

Hi Nazeer

I think you need to re install npm and bower dependencies again. Above demo server just ends up loading the spinner.

Mohit

Mohit as well as Duplex,

Thanks for all the fixes you all are making.

Nazeer,

I believe Mohit has been merging all the incoming PRs. Can we build and deploy this to the <https://demo.openmf.org/newbeta/> https://demo.openmf.org/newbeta/ demo server so I can continue testing?

Duplex,

It would be great if you could tackle some of those issues I raised in last email.

Thynn, I'm in touch with GitHub if it's possible to change permissions settings to allow for that.

Hi all,

Just to bring attention to some high-priority re-skin issues.

Right now the client record is not visible which makes testing difficult: https://github.com/openMF/community-app/issues/1814

Also, many of the lists throughout the app don't get displayed. The group of issues related to that is here: https://github.com/openMF/community-app/labels/bug-lists

Hi everyone,

We're finally getting close to shipping the great work that Duplex did during Google Summer of Code under the mentorship of Pranjal Goswami. His re-skinned, re-factored, and re-designed web app has now been merged with the latest codebase and can undergo its final round of bug fixing before it ships as the default UI for the Mifos X web app.

The new UI has been deployed at <https://demo.openmf.org/newbeta/> https://demo.openmf.org/newbeta/ with the usual credentials (mifos/password)

We need the community's help in testing and fixing the bugs found!

We need you to test out the web app and report any bugs founds (along with screenshots) as issues in the GitHub issue tracker - https://github.com/openMF/community-app/issues.

We've already done several rounds of QA and reported issues at https://github.com/openMF/community-app/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+label%3Areskin

Please tag them with the label, reskin.

We need all AngularJS developers to work on fixing the issues listed above. You can grab the codebase at <https://github.com/openMF/community-app/tree/new_reskin> https://github.com/openMF/community-app/tree/new_reskin

We'll also need to continue the work of GCI students and taking new screenshots for our user manual.

Please join us in the Gitter Chatroom to discuss how you can help - https://gitter.im/openMF/community-app

Many thanks to Nazeer and Pranjal for helping get Duplex' code to this point.
