Hello all,

This morning Krishnan conducted a very valuable demo of his Molly accounting interface for Miguel, our Mifos Specialist in Mozambique.

From the call, Miguel was quite invigorated by the ability for Molly to meet the business challenges that continue to hinder customers by not having the flexibility needed to support the accounting and financial transaction tracking alongside portfolio tracking in Mifos.

The Molly application that Krishnan and his colleagues at Mostfit are building can fulfill two very pressing needs 1) For customers with an existing accounting software, it provides a robust, flexible, and sophisticated user-friendly interface to extract and flexibly transform all the necessary financial transaction data outside of Mifos and interact back and forth between the various systems 2) it is also robust enough to function as the stand-alone accounting software for smaller MFIs that simply need basic accounting support that they currently don't have within Mifos.

Miguel has a pressing need to deliver on this accounting integration for a current customer he's supporting in Southern Africa.

I wanted to try and mobilize the effort needed to transform the data in Mifos to the proper format so that it can be fetched by Molly.

I will let Keith and others reasons with mire detail but wanted to establish the clear business case to have this functionality worked on.

Apologies as I hit send rather than save on an unfinished email draft.

I will create a ticket in JIRA but wanted to see if we could add this to the features being worked on for upcoming release.

On Mifos side, we need to take the data format the Molly expects and product file outputs from Mifos to match that.

Krishnan, I'll let you respond and coordinate with your team what services need to be made available over http to take in the data from Mifos.

Looking forward to this cross-community collaboration.

Attached is the concept note from Krishnan on the Molly module.

Hello Ed and all,

(apologies for the delayed response, we are celebrating the Festival
of Lights here in India and most of us are on vacation)

It is heartening to see more validation for the approach that Molly
takes to improve accounting integration and support in Mifos (or any
MIS, in general, for microfinance). i thank Keith, Ed, Binny, Miguel,
and others from the community that are encouraging these efforts, and
continue to seek your support and assistance to bring these to
conclusion.

The Mostfit team will publish (in the following week) a release plan
for Molly, and a specification on integration with Mifos, so as to
provide a lot more information concerning the availability and use of
Molly with Mifos.

With Deepawali wishes to all and best regards,

krishnan mani,
Pune, India
