Hi,

I have searched the database and see that others have had this difficulty,
but cannot see where anyone has come up with the solution.

I just installed Office 2007 onto a Windows Vista Home Premium system.
I have Service Pack 2 installed.

My computer is an AMD Turion 1.9 GHz, with 3 GB RAM.

I also use Sunbelt's VIPRE for my virus protection.

While in MS Word, I click the Office Button... New
This opens the Templates dialog.
I browse down to a template I like, select it and then click the "Download"
button at the bottom right side window.

It starts to search for the template, then an error box pops up that says:

"Template Download Error
The template cannot be downloaded. To fix this problem, do the following:
* Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet.
* Make sure your browser is not in offline mode.
* Try to download the template again later.

My computer IS connect to the Internet.
My browsner IS NOT functioning of offline mode.
I have tried again and again.

Can you download directly from the Office template web site? Have you
downloaded the ActiveX control?
http://office.microsoft.com/templates/axinstall.aspx?

What are your security settings? If they are set too high you may not be able to
access the Office web site.

Having the same problem with Office 2007 on a client's workstation. Templates
can be downloaded directly from the web site, but not from within Word. I
recently upgrade this workstation from 2003 to 2007. I will probably just
make them a shortcut to the templates online, and not bother with a reinstall.

This issue should be fixed by installing service pack 2 for Windows Office (Thats different then service pack 2 for windows in general).

Make sure your a local admin on your machine and install the latest service pack for office 2007.

You can also just run windows update until there are none left, it should find that your service pack is old for office.
