MSXML5.dll not a valid Windows image

My PC is running XP Pro with Outlook 2003. Recently, when opening Outlook, I
get error message:
The application or DLL C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft
Shared\OFFICE11\MSXML5.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this
against your installation diskette.

The file is listed in the folder with a size of 0. Per another PC, same o/s
and Outlook version, it should be 1393 kb. Can I copy the file from the other
PC? If so, how do I do this? Must I be in safe mode? Can I just drop it into
the directory? Other specific directions?

Also, how does something like this happen? A few weeks ago, this PC booted
into Checkdisk, but when the scan was done, booted normally into Windows with
no error messages. Thanks in advance for your help.

This driver comes from a number of sources. You need to see where the
copy you have comes from.

It might help to post a complete copy of the Event Viewer error report.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer.Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

The PC is set for automatic updates, did receive the May release, and no
updates are pending. I can try to check for updates if you think it's
indicated.

I suggest you download and run Spybot S & D (freeware version). There
is a freeware version buried in this link:

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
1.36 -freeware (if you upgrade you pay).

Run Malwarebytes' in safe mode and turn off your current anti-virus
before you do to avoid a conflict. Disregard the invitation on the web
site regarding the Registry Optimiser -a Registry Optimiser is not a
helpful utility.

Also,for xp, the downloads in most cases are MSXML v4.0 & v6.0
Also,i believe MSXML 5 is used mostly in office software,not outlook.
