Dealing With Adobe Flashplayer

I suppose there are a few situations where Adobe (Macromedia) Flashplayer is
useful. But in my experience, 99 percent of the time it simply runs inane
commercial videos about erection control and other subjects which I have to
endure before using the website.

I have two programs: Install and uninstall Adobe Flashplayer. My default
is to run my computer with AFP Uninstalled. But then I continually get
reminders asking me if I wish to reinstall whenever I visit a new web site.
Is there any other program to turn off these invitations?

I, too, hate Flash and do not have the POS installed.

I never get reminders, or invitations, just big holes in some web pages. If
the page designers are going to use Flash, they deserve big holes in their
web pages. LOL

I hate the extension .swf.

I see this on a lot of web pages in View | Source:

http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab"

That nomally gets you the File Download popup for swflash.cab, the install
file for Flash.

I can even visit
http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/
and not get any invitation. Just a big hole, where Flash should display my
version.

Maybe because I do not have Java either. Another POS.

Enough rambling, try these...

Internet Explorer | Tools | Internet Options | Advanced tab |
Make sure both of these are NOT checked.

Enable Install On Demand (Internet Explorer)
[[Specifies to automatically download and install Internet Explorer
components if a Web page needs them in order to display the page properly or
perform a particular task.]]

Enable Install On Demand (Other)
[[Specifies to automatically download and install Web components if a Web
page needs them in order to display the page properly or perform a
particular task.]]

Click Apply | Click OK

Make sure that the Kill Bit for Flash is enabled.

I went through the steps except for the registry change. Doing and undoing
that seems like an accident waiting to happen.

I want to be able to allow the program on the infrequent sites where it does
something useful, and necessary. All I really want was a way to stop the
reminders to install the Flash.
