Proxy does not works

Hi,
I tried to use anonimous proxy server. I'm using LAN.
Tools > Internet option > Connection > LAN Setting > Check the proxy box and
put the address and port.
But it does not work.

It woks fine with my old computer which used Windows 2000.

How to set this properly?

Sounds like you're using the XP home edition, but I could be wrong. If you
are then the networking components you need are not in that version, you'll
need the Pro edition, (if I'm wrong someone please correct me). Otherwise
you need to make sure you're logged in as an administrator on the Pro
version and this should work.

Does the proxy server work? Have you verfied by other
means that the address you're using for proxy is still alive?

Many anonymous proxy servers just disappear or block users.

Hmmm...make sure the "Auto detect settings" is empty. It worked for me.

Hi,
the proxy works. I have the old computer with the same proxy and it works.

Also, Äuto detect setting is empty.

So, explain a little more as to what does not work. What
kind of message to you get? Do you get a page not found
message, or is it just too slow and it times out?

Have you tried visiting other pages, too?

When I visit a website that records IP, it records the IP of my ISP not that
of the Proxy. Again, this works fine with my other computer with Windows
2000.
