The thumbnail view when used on the c drive causes explorer.exe to crash.
This happens every time I open the c drive. The d drive works fine as does
the c drive sub folders. Once I expand the c drive, I get the windows error
notification message. This happens in safe mode and normal mode.

I can open the d drive as thumbnail view, change it to details and set
details as my default view for all folders. Then the c drive opens ok.
If I then try the thumbnail view it crash explorer again.

Any help??

It's possible the thumbnail cache is corrupted. You can turn it off:

- In Explorer (after you set details view for all folders), go to
Tools/Folder Options/View
- Check "Do not cache thumbnails"
(This will slow down the display of thumbnails, but may stop the crashes)

If this works, and you want to try using caching again, you can try this:

- In Explorer (after you set details view for all folders), go to
Tools/Folder Options/View
- Check "Show hidden files & folders"
- Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" (You'll get a warning)
- Locate and delete all "Thumbs.db" files (You'll get a warning message
each time)
- Go back and uncheck "Do not cache thumbnails"
- Set view back to Thumbnails where desired. Thumbs.db files will be
recreated.

Let us know how it goes.
