I am trying to us the Terminal Server Printer Driver Redirection Wizard to
help resolve printer redirection in Server 2008. When I run the Wizard I
get an error "Error 6: Terminal Server Printer Driver Redirection Wizard
encountered a problem with the WMI subsystem on the server. I have
checked and the WMI Service is running. Does any one know why this Wizard
will not run.

Hi Larry,

According to this
article--http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=9AD27BE9-40DB-484F-862E-38A094EEEAF7&displaylang=en--the
Printer Driver Redirection Wizard is only to resolve redirection errors by
creating a custom mapping file. In WS2008, Easy Print addresses the need
for custom INF mapping, and the Terminal Server Printer Driver Redirection
Wizard is no longer supported.

Only Easy Print does not address all such issues. Applications written in
PowerBuilder do not print correctly to the Easy Print driver. Applications
written in Powerbuilder do not print correctly to the Microsoft XPS Document
Writer in Vista either (and hence the Easy Print).

It would be very helpful if there was a printer redirection feature in 2008
like there is in 2003 - if there is a work around to get printer redirection
working in 2008 I would love to hear about it.

Thanks

Is there a way to dictate which printers use the Easy print driver and which
printers use their drivers? I know with GP you can say, "Use Terminal Server
Easy printer Driver first" which I am currently doing. However, I have a
couple of printers (1 pdf) that are not working with the Easy print driver.
Thanks,
Steve

I am in the same boat. I would like to use Easy print for my pdf printers
and real drivers for the other printers
