Can you be a bit more descriptive?
Did this server come with SBS 2003 OEM installed?
And which SP1 are we are we talking about?

I'm missing something here
You said this was a Dell Server, right? Dell will not sell the OEM
software NOT pre-installed?

So did you buy the server with no OS and then get the software separately?
which BTW is not legal.

Was there anything installed on this server when you started the install?

A question about the legality.
if I have a license that came with a dell box, and later realize my hardware
is either dying or underpowered,
and buy a MUCH BETTER box without the OS- and move my license to it (so long
as I move everything, and take the software off the old machine?)

Sorry Cris, I do not want to enter into discussion about legalism, I was
looking for help. I AM the system builder who buys hardware and software and
sells it pre-installed to customers. Sometimes, as in this case, the customer
asks us to implement the whole system to his network. I know about the laws
since I am Microsoft system builder.

No, unfortunately not, which is why we don't recommend buying your
server like this.

I'm not looking for a legal discussion other than to ensure you we are not
talking about a Dell OEM pre-install because there have been issues with
that. As Susan said, its why we don't like OEM. I am a system builder
myself but I have my customers buy retail because there are less anomalies.

I don't find anything in the knowledge base on this.
Have you tried searching Google Groups for the exact message you're
getting??
