Hi all,

This is a re-post and no-one seem to have an answer to this problem.
Although end users receive their emails with no problem but I am
consistently receiving the following three errors for the POP3 connector on
the SBS2003:

Source: POP3 Connector
Event ID: 1019
The message download process finished with one or more errors.

Source: POP3 Connector
Event ID: 1023
The downloading process for mailbox <account [pop.sample.com]> was ended
with one or more errors.

Source: POP3 Connector
Event ID: 1036
An error occurred during a POP3 transaction to server <pop.sample.com
[account]>. The error is 10054 (An existing connection was forcibly closed by
the remote host. ).

These errors are just annoyance and takes space on the server.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

You are not alone. For those servers using POP downloads and for which we
are paid to monitor, we see these errors regularly. And yes, we have applied
the POP patches. We too would like to know the answers....

I have seen these too, although I thought the third was a different number,
(1053 ??). What I recall is reading that these are messages with a problem,
something wrong. They are generally a spam message not formatted correctly.
Not necessarily a virus or whatever, just incorrectly formatted.

Kevin,

I do not think these are spam emails. They consistently appear on the Event
log for various users (If I inspect in details, I suppose these messages are
generated for the entire user population).

Any other idea.

Tonton,
I had the same problem. The problem is based on DNS and a timeout by
receiving email via pop3. Just write the IP address and DNS Name of your
ISP's mail server in the host file of your SBS2003 and your problem is
solved. I did it and haven't anymore error messages in my log file.

Hello,

Thanks for your posting here.

However as what I can see, this is a broken thread and I cannot find the original one. So could you please submit a new post with more detailed description? Thank you.

For your reference, here is a good 3rd party website for Event ID query:

Event ID Troubleshooting

Hope this helps.
