I bet you need a contiguous space on C: as large as your amount of RAM. Try
defragmenting the disk drive and see if that helps...

ive been searching for a solution to the "Power Policy Manager unable
to reserve hibernate file" & "the process cannot access the file
because it is being used by another process" problem and after weeks
of searching ive finally found the solution to it. Its unbelievably
and annoyingly simple to fix:

1. Open C:\ Drive and open up 'Tools' -> 'Folder Options'

2. Ensure that the "Show hidden files and folders" radio option is
enabled

3. Just below that the " Hide protected operating system
files(Recommended)" tick option is also enabled
(you should reset these in a few minutes time when hibernation is
fixed and working!)

4. Now have a look in the C:\ drive window you opened earlier and try
to locate a file called hiberfil which should be about 1gb in size.
Delete this file from the C:\ Drive. It seems the hibernation system
file is being detached from its originating text document somehow or
the linked text document is being deleted somehow. So now we will
create a new hibernate text document which when read by windows will
spawn a new hiberfil.sys file and B.I.N.G.O.

5. Now right click in the C:\ drive, go to -> new, and create a new
text document and name it hiberfile.sys and hit enter. That should do
it, there should now be the hiberfil text document you just created
and another file called hiberfil next to it. if not quit out your C:\
drive and go back in again. If still not there try reboot or repeat
the process of deleting and adding new text doc.

6. Finally go to start menu, settings, control panel, open up power
options, enable hibernation and at long, long last there is no stupid
error message.

This is what drives you nuts about microsoft and pc's, the problems
are always so trivial and when you go to microsoft.com they always
offer up the same pathetic help pages telling you its driver problems
or this problem or that problem when its always simple solutions like
that that they never suggest to you as last resorts even! Fools!
