We understand the frustration and concern and we are targeting 64 bit
support on Vista at least in an upcoming release.
The product continues to go through tons of changes - and we expect this to
be one of those not-so-fun-but-hopefully-short-term frustrations.

Justin,
I don't know where you work in MS and I'm truly sorry for responding
like this but I just have to call bullsh*t. This is complete and total
crap and the very reason why all my mail reading is done today with
Thunderbird.
I've been a software developer for nearly 20 years now, developed
several installers using Wise, Installshield, inno setup, and wix and
know all about the 32/64 bit issues. The fact that the new installer
doesn't support 64 bit systems is completely idiotic and is indicative
of stupid management because I know for a fact that there is nothing
about what you would use for the installer that would have 64 bit
issues. If you have some element of Windows live that doesn't support
64 bit then disable them during installation but don't prevent the ones
that do work from being installed. I've used live writer since it first
came out and love it. I've tried to use live mail since it came out and
it's a complete piece of crap.
Vista x64 is an important platform and any reasonable project management
would mandate that it be supported by all changes. MS proves again that
some of the development teams simply have no clue what they are doing.
