"an error occurred during directplay voice setup"
Error Code: 0x80004005

= Every Time I try to test the voice recording hardware i get this error.
Afther i click on 'ok' i also get a message:

"Windows cannot execute Dpvsetup.exe, use Add/remove Programs control panel
to install."

I use SB Audigy with the latest Creative drivers. After a fresh install, the
test ends correctly and i can use mic (for example with MSN), but after i
install some software i get this error, and i can't figure out where the
problem is or what couses it. The mic works now (on MSN), but when i install
NEW software like 'game voice' that also uses directplay, i have to test the
hardware AGAIN, and i get this error.

I searched the whole internet with google, but couldn't find any real
solution to this problem. Also, the MS article that states that HW
Acceleration should be set to higher/lower doesn't solve the problem.

I use DX9.0b

(re-installing the drivers/DX doesn't solve the problem)

I haven't found any better place than this to post this question so i hope i
will get some real help here.

The error you are getting is "Access Denied". You could potentially get
this if the hardware is already in use by process A, and then attempt to use
it with process B. As long as they both aren't running at the same time it
shouldn't be a problem. Perhaps one of the programs is not correctly
releasing the device when it is done?
