Hello all...

I recently started to get a random pop-up window in my Windows XP Home
Edition, stating:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library,
RUNTIME ERROR!
Program: C:\Windows\System32\Rundll32.exe
R6030 - CRT not initialized ....

OK button.

I click on OK the window disappears and no apparent other issues seem to
occur, the programs that were open continue to run, allowing me to open and
close other programs, until I try to open or close some other random program,
it pops up again. Clicking OK, makes it go away.

What is this error exactly, and how can I correct or get rid of it for good?

Thanks.
Zoltan

You need to ask in a Windows XP newsgroup. This one's for general
discussion of Visual Basic programming (that's "vb" you see in the newsgroup
name, not "xp").

I don't know whether you mean this is a general thing, or whether it happens
only when you are developing a C program, but either way you are in the
wring newsgroup. This group is for Visual Basic (VB6 and earlier). However,
does the following help at all?

Well since the error said: Microsoft VISUAL C++ which I assumed was a VISUAL
BASIC error, I figured I was in the right forum.
Would you mind giving me the link to where I SHOULD be posting this?
Thank you.

I am not a developer .. .this is a general error I am staring to get in XP,
and since it said Microsoft Visual C++, I assumed it was a VISUAL BASIC error
and I was in the right forum to ask for advice.
That link you gave me is Greek to me. I need to know what to look for in
XP, and how to correct this pop up error.
If you have any suggested links to another forum that would provide this
knowledge to me, I'd appreciate it. I searched the Knowledge Bases, and
nothing came up under that error.
Thanks.

What about VISUAL C++ made you think of VISUAL BASIC? Why not VISUAL
FORTRAN? Seems just as appropriate.

Try microsoft.public.vc.online-help or another m.p.VC group.

Some program or service on the box is causing this error. You can load a JIT
Debugger - Dr. Watson (See Windows Help) to perhaps identify the
program/service. You will need to contact the vendor for a problem
resolution. There is no way to "shut-off" error messages. Nor would you want
to.
