I spend time making the charts the way I want them in excel and when i copy
to power point the colors change. Can I change the default set up to make
them be the same?

Which versions of PowerPoint and Excel do you use? In Office 2007 you need
to apply the same Theme Colors to both Excel and PowerPoint.

EXCEL and PowerPoint 2007 versions

Ricky, please check out:-

http://www.pierrefondes.com/

- item number 74 (EXCEL 2007 Charts PowerPoint Presentation).

When I copied these Charts into PowerPoint I took the following actions:-

1. I used a Title and Content type of Slide.

2. In EXCEL I right clicked in the Chart I wanted to copy and hit Copy.

3. I then went to PowerPoint clicked in the Content part of the slide /
right click / Paste.

In lower right hand corner I clicked on the Paste Options button and
selected Paste as Picture.

This seemed to keep the colours as they were prepared in EXCEL 2007.

If my comments have helped please hit Yes.

Thanks.

I have used Office 2003, 2007, and now 2010 and have the same compatibility issues. Even when I use the same "theme" (which 2007 and 2010 makes it very easy to do), there are problems with colors changing. First, Excel switches the order of dark and light (background and font), and no matter what order I put the accent colors in my theme, the resulting charts in Excel never paste into PowerPoint using the same colors - they switch to other colors. I spent almost 2 hours yesterday experimenting with making a separate "theme" for Excel with the same palette but in different orders trying to get a graphic that would paste into PowerPoint with the same color results and could never get it to work. Frustrated! I am trying to create an Excel and PowerPoint template that others can use to create charts in Excel and paste them into their PowerPoint presentations, but the color issue almost ensures that a designer will still have to go in and review/change colors after the graphics are brought into PowerPoint. Why doesn't Microsoft address this issue? Have you found any workarounds?
