I'm using Outlook 2007 SP2 on Vista Home Premium SP2. Outlook Connector
stopped receiving Hotmail messages (I know I've had some by checking in Live
Mail) a couple of days ago. I can send OK. The mail server looks connected
OK. Send/Receive appears to run OK, if taking a long time, but doesn't
receive. I have downloaded and installed a new copy of Outlook Connector.

The detailed output reports this:

"Signed in successfully at 09/09/2009 16:30:33

Mail: Last successfully refreshed at 16:32.
Calendar: Last successfully refreshed at 16:32.
Contacts: Last successfully refreshed at 16:32.

Errors :

Time: 09/09/2009 16:30:41
Error in Mail
Error with Send/Receive.
Look for a log in the Sync Issues folder.

Time: 09/09/2009 16:32:21
Error in Mail
There is an error synchronizing your mail account. Please verify your
account has been configured correctly by first accessing your mail on the
web.
Error: 4201. Client. Invalid folder name."

I can access via the web. Isn't the Sync Issues comment about Exchange
accounts? I'm only using Outlook Connector and POP3 accounts here.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Charlie

the connector also uses sync folders. What are the folder names on the
server and in outlook? do the sync folders have anything interesting in
them?

I cannot find any sync folders. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place.

Perhaps I need to back up all email data, remove the Hotmail account and
then add it again?

OK, I've found the sync logs.

This is one of the recurring messages:

"The following issues occurred while synchronizing with the server:

Folder Collection Sync Key: 0{e2ce149e-fbd0-4816-bedc-e35e5fe2fedd}3314

I have verified my account on the web.

Same with my client. Stopped receiving hotmail mail on 8/31. This undermines
trust to the outlook because it fails quietly without indication of failure.
Any ideas?

To continue to receive e-mail from your Hotmail account, you need to select
one of the methods below to connect to Hotmail before September 1, 2009.
After this, new e-mail can only be delivered to your mail programs through
the following solutions.

If you use Outlook 2003/2007, you can download the free Outlook Connector to
continue receiving Hotmail. If you're using Outlook 2002, you will need to
change the account to use POP3. If you use Outlook Express to view Hotmail,
you can choose between downloading Windows Live Mail (free) or reconfigure
your account to use POP3. See
http://www.slipstick.com/problems/msn_denied.asp for details.

Removing and readding the account often helps, but there should be no need to
back up the data, since it will remain on the Hotmail server, ready to be seen
again when you add the account.

Well, I have got the Hotmail account working again, with some interesting
results.

- I backed up Outlook: copied all data files to backup folder, exported
(belt-and-braces) Contacts and Calendar to CSV files.
- Removed Hotmail account, and de-installed Outlook Connector.
- Downloaded latest Outlook Connector and installed. Added Hotmail account
via connector.

It took about an hour for the Hotmail account to rebuild itself.

The process rearranged my Outlook folders in a way that has surprised me,
and I'm still puzzled by why it did so. I shall have to unravel the logic.

Exporting to CSV does not make for a faithful backup. That's not how to
backup Outlook. However, it's nice to hear it's working again.

Hi All,
My outlook connector has stopped working properly I have been using it for

a problem after setup.
I get a problem with the sync services and am advised to...
To resume services follow the instructions here

Error 4104.
Interestingly this only takes me tot he MSN home page.

Ok if I remove and reinstall outlook connector after first removing the
hotmail account from outlook (I have also installed office after numerous
attempts)
I get the hotmail account to connect and I have only the basic folders
Inbox, draft Junk mail and sent.
Unfortunately while I can send from this account nothing arrives in my inbox
on outlook, web mail shows new messages and I can view and them.

Any further help would be appreciated.

Hi Gordon,
I donwnloaded and installed the Latest version 12.1 (not sure why they call
it 12.1 when it is actually 12.0.6423) Guess thier rounding up.

Anyway this version does not allow me to see Outlook connector in the the
menu bar at the top of the screen but does show outlook connector as a type
when adding a new email address. Similarly the server status is now not
displayed in the bottom right hand corner. Just so you know I have
uninstalled outlook connector a few times now and have even uninstalled
office a few times but nothing seems to help my Hotmail account, other
accounts are working fine.

Cheers

I recently installed outlook on my computer. I am no longer using the email through my msn home page. Am I supposed to be using hotmail only or can I use the email address shown above. If I can use the email address shown above how do I get them to be in sync. I am not sure if I used the proper settings for this.
