Outlook can not load add-in (from Google Desktop Search) on Start

My Outlook can not load Google Desktop Search add-in on start up. This is
what happened.

I uninstalled Google Desktop Search, and cleaned out all files and folders
related to Google Desktop

Search. Whenever I start Outlook, an error message pops up, saying: "The
add-in "C:\Program Files\Google

Desktop Search\GoogleDesktopO..." could not be installed or loaded. This
problem may be resolved by

using Detect and Repair on the Help menu. Unable to load "C:\Program
Files\Google Desktop S...". You may

be out of memory, out of system resources, or missing a .dll file."

I did Detect and Repair and it didn't solve the problem. I contacted Google,
and they are not

replying at all. I don't know what I can do at this point.

Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

find and delete the extend.dat file - it's a hidden file at C:\Documents and
Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook.

Here are the REAL steps to solve this problem. Took some time to find
partial answers everywhere.

Make sure Outlook is closed.

1) Delete the Google desktop extension in registry, if it still exists:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Extensions]
Delete key: "Google Desktop Search Outlook Addin"

2) Remove extend.dat in either - %AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook == C:\Documents
and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
or
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Restart outlook and this will disappear.

I am stuck with exact same error message (after uninstalling googleearth by
doing a system restore)

Problem is, I can't find either .dat file or registry path which I need to
delete!

folder below in my c:drive

Try another path:

C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

It worked for me.

Thank-you Dianne for being so clear; Giving me the path to file extend.dat and removing the extend.dat file that file solved the problem.

Thanks Mike worked like a charm. every other REAL answer did not mention registry delete, only the extend.dat fix(which I just renamed extend.old) finally this stupid message is gone!!!

In Windows 7 the path is C:\users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\extend.dat
Delete the file and the problem goes away.

Hey all,

I am not able to use google desktop search for outlook 2013. It used to work fine with outlook 2007 but no more with 2010 and 2013. does any one have any work around.
