I am having troubled in opening the .msg files to view the content. I have
office 2002 that has Outlook 2002 in it. What happen was i got an email
coming into my gmail account from a friend of mine (trusted source). I then
downloaded and saved it into my C-drive. There are 3 emails with .msg file
extension. My guess is these emails come from Outlook 02 application. When i
double-click on one of them, an error message showed up with the following
message
Can't open the file ... The file may not exist, you may not have permission
to open it, or it may be open in another program. Right click the folder...
Is there any way of working around this issue?
By the way, my computer does not have Google Desktop Search installed. To
confirm this, i went to add/remove program under control panel and did not
find it there. The only Google i saw was Google update (should i remove this)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance

If i saved a message from my Outlook 2002 as .msg file on my laptop, i could
open it without any drama.
I must tell you this. Those .msg files that i was unable to open, actually
came from our backup mail server administered by our colleague. Because i
want to get my e-mails three years ago back, i asked him to send me those
e-mails. He used a Squirrelmail webmail to retrieve the emails and forwarded
those mails as attachments. And obviously, now i was unable to open to read
them. Are there any other programs that you may know of, that can do the
magic for me.
Thank you in advance
If you know someone with Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007, then you could ask
him/her to see if they can open it for you.
Since the original sender didn't use Outlook, then it could be that these
are not formatted in the correct format. See if you can open it in Notepad
instead.
The Bat! also uses the msg-format. Perhaps you can open it with that mail
client?

Otherwise ask the sender which email client you are supposed to open them
with or if he/she can send it to you in another format.
