Hello there, i have been using OneNote for a few days at the beginning of the
summer quarter at college. Today i woke up and one note would open, then
this would pop up "The setup controller has encountered a problem during
install. Please review the log files for further information on the error."
So i went to explore the log file and this is what it had to say (i have no
idea)

Before you do ANYthing, find your OneNote files and make a backup copy of
them. OneNote has its own backup folder, but you should make another copy
somewhere else, just in case. I think you're using Windows XP, aren't you?
On Windows XP the backup files are in: "C:\Documents and Settings\user
name\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\OneNote\Backup"
(In case you're running Vista 32 they are in "C:\Users\user
name\AppData\Microsoft\OneNote\12.0\Backup" )

Make a note of the last date they were modified. Hopefully they contain
most, if not all, of your notes. Just copy the files to another area on your
C: drive or to a flash drive.

Then go to the Control Panel, "Add/Change Programs" and do a complete
uninstall of your OneNote program. Try reinstalling again. Be sure to close
all of your open programs before doing a re-install (as many as possible).
Make sure the reinstall completes successfully and then reboot your computer.

If that doesn't work, you'll need to provide more information about your
configuration.

One other thing--

You should also make a copy of the Notebook files under
"C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\My Documents\OneNote Notebooks" (OR
wherever you have your notebooks saved.)

Then after you reinstall, just try accessing the notebooks as usual. If you
can't, and you feel that the files from the "backup" folder have most of your
information in them, copy them to the working folder (above) and try
accessing them again.
