Version: 2008
Email Client: imap

I have created a new email account. I go to my Advanced options to set up my special folders (Deleted Items, Drafts and Sent Items). I click "OK" and I get an error message telling me that I need to specify the special folders. I have "specified" these folders about 20 times and it doesn't seem to save my selections. My Delete Options are also NOT saved.

You don't need to create these folders. Just be sure you subscribe to them.
Open Schedules. Select your IMAP account and click on the "click here for
account options" à the folders you want.

Thanks, Diane. Those are already checked. I want the subfolders (Deleted Items, Drafts, Sent Items, Junk Email) to appear in my outlook left nav bar. I have 2 other accounts configured the same way and I have those special folders selected. I keep trying to go back into Account | Advanced to select these folders AND select my preferred Delete Options but when I close out, my selected go back to the default. What I'm I doing wrong?

Did you mean Entourage left nav bar? I have no idea how to do this in
Outlook.

Yes. I mean the Entourage left nav bar/menu. For example, my other accounts have: Account name and then an INBOX, Deleted Items, Drafts, Sent Emails, Junk Mail.

I did a Google search and this error has a lot of hits going back years.
Below are some snippets that I found. Storing sent messages on the server
came up frequently, so I suggest when you do get your folders don't set sent
to be stored on the server. I also found several posts mentioning
The error when they used an iPhone. My guess is that your account is not
setup correctly on the server. You never mentioned who your provider was or
if this is an account via your work server.

Google Notes:

It sounds as if the Exchange server might be configured to receive mail only
in MAPI. It has to be configured, by the admin, to receive mail via IMAP or
POP, in order to be received (as an RFC-822 message) in Entourage. The mail
account in Entourage should similarly be set up as IMAP or POP as
appropriate.

Error 1025

AOL error 1025 "You have not correctly assigned folders."

Don't assign any folders. All of the boxes under "Special Folders" in the
"Advanced" tab should be unchecked.
========
Please try to do this and check :
1. go to tools and account
2. go to advance tab
3. uncheck "store sent messages in this imap folder
Let me know if it worked!!
=========
It's not an Entourage error. It's a server setting error due to how it was
set up. As that reference you quote says, the system has to use directory
protection 1777, and not some stronger one. Refer your IMAP server's IT
Admin to the URL. Many IT Admins tend to not care or understand anything to
do with their Mac users, however...

ge/2006-03/msg00157.html>

=======

Resolved it by creating an EXCHANGE account and deleting the IMAP account.

======

A few weeks ago IMAP users started reporting an error 1025 when sending
messages with attachments. The message is sent but cannot be stored in the
Sent Items folder on the server and is instead stored locally with the
message Error 1025 Unable to add message to imap mailbox.

=====

I found the reason for the error 1777:

IMAP Toolkit Frequently Asked Questions
7.10 What does the message: Mailbox vulnerable - directory
http://www.washington.edu/imap/IMAP-FAQs/index.html#7.10

=====

Error Receiving Message (317 UD Failed) error 1025

After attempting to open the message up to three times, this error goes away
and the message can be read. Users are updating their folder lists, and
I've done a typical rebuild of their entourage database (hold down option
key, then launch Entourage).

Microsoft has told me that this is definitely a server issue.

Microsoft live support is somewhat limited. I'm also not sure how much they
charge.

Telephone
(800) MICROSOFT (642-7676)

You never did answer who your account is hosted with.
