Hi,

Trying to mount exchange 2003 (win 2003 server , 2003 ad) mailbox store and
getting the error c104137b.
App log shows "Error Log file is corrupt starting storage group".

Have tried the following on my private storage group:
eseutil /d (defrag) ran ok
eseutil /p (repair) ran ok
eseutil /l (checksum) reports no checksums , 3000 unitiaklized pages

isinteg - s <servername> -fix -test alltests (reports cannot initiate
verification process)

attemped to mount storage group still shows error c104137b

On my public storage group i tried:
eseutil /p (unable to find the callback library jcb.dll) Have copied the
dll into the exchange bin dir but still get error.

Where can i go from here ?

Thank you.

priv and pub dbs are now at a stage where no checksums are reported when
running eseutil/d , eseutil/p , eseutil/k.

When running ISINTEG on ether of them im getting ISINTEG cannot initiate
verification process.

The app log error log was a clue i missed:

"App log shows "Error Log file is corrupt starting storage group".

When i move the Log files out of the dir:

res2
E00
E00022E0
res1

and mount it works.

Each log file is 5mb.

What have i just lost by removing the log files ?

Thanks

Do you have a good *full* backup to restore from? Running eseutil/p
is a last resort thing.

If the store was dismounted gracefully and was in a clean shutdown
state, nothing.
But regardless, once you ran eseutil/p all those logs created before
you ran it are invalidated.
Be sure to get a fresh, full online backup of the store ASAP.

Pulling back a little - what happened before this problem occurred? What SPs
on everything? Do you have good backups just in case?

Hi Scott,

If this happens again, read the event log more carefully. You can also see
if the database is in a clean shutdown state using the /mh switch of
eseutil.

Your /p and /d and other steps were likely unnecessary. As Andy says, take
a full backup now.

...and get a good UPS with a management cable that can shut down the
server(s) gracefully in the event of power failure.
