Great news! The Memphis Java User Group now has a home at Cowork Memphis on 902 South Cooper (right across the street from the Celtic Cross at Cooper & Young). As many of you know, Cowork Memphis graciously hosts many tech user groups and events at their nice facility right in the heart of Memphis, so big thanks to them for supporting the developer community and the Java User Group!
Our meeting for this month will be Thursday, June 18th at 6:30 pm (at Cowork Memphis). We will have two presentations. Tim Brownawell will give us a talk about concurrency and threading, "Doing Things at the Same Time". Concurrency is one of the most challenging concepts in programming, but also incredibly powerful and necessary for making scalable, high-performance applications and is a critical skill in the developer's arsenal.
We'll also get a short presentation on Java annotations - what they're good for, how to use them, and how to implement your own.
As always, many thanks to
Vaco MidSouth for sponsoring our group and providing the delicious food! Reach out to Bob Burditt, our Vaco representative, if you're in the market for a developer job or if you need assistance hiring.
Thanks and see you next week!
