Problem when install meme on Ubuntu 14.04

Hi,
I try to install meme on Ubuntu 14.04
My download version is meme_4.10.0_1.tar.gz
I follow the install instruction to install it:
$ tar zxf meme_VERSION.tar.gz
$ cd meme_VERSION
$ ./configure --prefix=$my-location --with-url=http://meme.nbcr.net/meme
But when I do the nex step:
$ make
$ make test
$ make install
it get an error said:
'Makefile:238: *** missing separator. Stop.'
Anyone could help me out?Confuse about it..
