Appendix C of this book contains one of the best discussions of cache coherency and memory visibility issues available on the internet.

Dr. McKenney is one of the co-inventors (or arguably, one of many inventors over many years) of the Read-Copy Update algorithm used in the Linux kernel.

Good to see the author update this book. Seems like a reference like the on from Ulrich Drepper about Memory
