Red-headed Woodpecker, Baltimore County

hey all,

    There is a wintering resident (adult) red-headed woodpecker in patch of trees next to white sign "Morris' Choice Bison Ranch" on Freeland Road, S of Ridge Rd in Freeland, MD.    Shoulders are pretty soft from recently icy conditions.   Earlier, Common Mergansers # have increased at Loch Raven Reservoir,  with 193 at #2 bridge (Dulaney Valley Rd bridge) and 229 at Loch Raven Point.   Redhead # are higher as well.  One male Northern Pintail flyover at #2 bridge, pretty rare anywhere at the reservoir.    No sightings of Red-necked Grebe.
