While walking Skippy at dawn yesterday I heard a few Swainson's
Thrushes calling as they flew overhead. Hoping for a fallout of
warblers in the morning I went to Hashawha for a hike but the fallout
never materialized. I found only four warblers for the day - 8
Yellowthroats including 3 adult males and the others heard chipping,
one adult male Redstart, two Magnolia Warblers, and one Blackpoll
Warbler. Fortunately there were other birds to enliven the walk. I
also saw a Philadelphia Vireo and a Lincoln's Sparrow, several Indigo
Buntings, a Swainson's Thrush, and a somewhat early White-throated
Sparrow.
Hoping for some waterfowl I also stopped at the Study Road farm
pond where there was a lone Great Blue Heron and at Cranberry
Reservoir where there were no birds on the lake.
