Hello,

Your help would be much appreciated. I'm trying to use MaxEnt in R on my MacBook Air. The dismo package is installed as well as rJava. I copied and pasted maxent.jar to the appropriate folder.

When I try to test with maxent(), I get this error that I have come across on Google but I'm honestly still confused:

> maxent()
Error in rJava::.jnew("meversion") : java.lang.ClassNotFoundException

However, I'm confused also because I think this is a good sign? The zero?

> .jinit(classpath="maxent.jar")
[1] 0

I think my Java is 1.6.0...

Thanks for any help or if there are previous threads that you think will help I appreciate that too.

Sincerely,
Carolyn

Have you examined which version your Java is (32 or 64 bit)? If you have a 64-bit system, you should be using the 64-bit Java.
