I need help on how I can prepare the data not readily available from worldclim classes (i.e NDVI and Land cover classes). Any suggestions will be appreciated

Thank you for your help.

Hi Jalios,

If you need NDVI & Land cover data you can download from https://earthexplorer.usgs.gov/http://glcf.umd.edu/data/ndvi/ etc..for the global cover provided at various resolutions ( Registration required). However, if you want to prepare on your own you can use the remote sensing data available from  https://earthexplorer.usgs.gov/http://glcf.umd.edu/data/ndvi/ etc.. and you can compute on your own using Qgis software ((https://www.qgis.org/en/site/).

Post installation of QGIS software you can install plugin "Semi-Automatic Classification Plugin (SCP)"  and compute your own NDVI and Land cover data (https://fromgistors.blogspot.com/p/semi-automatic-classification-plugin.html). Hope this helps.

Regards,
Bipin

Hi, piggy backing on this, several years ago I used Maxent for primate distribution and found that NDVI did not have a good response as the pixel variation was possibly very small. Any thought on this chaps?
cheers

Hi Marcello,

I have not worked on primates will try to provide info.

Can you please provide more information on the NDVI datasets used. Which NDVI data you used for example AVHRR, what is the resolution, what is the temporal period? Also, what maxent settings used.

Regards,
Bipin
