Hi collegues,

My name is Tiago and I work in a Public Environmental Agency in Bahia, Brazil. I worked with ecological niche modelling until 3 years ago, but unfortunately I'm outdated and we need a great help of you.

The Bahia Goverment will hiring the production of maps containing the potencial distribution for endangered species of Bahia State.

To do it, we need to specify the algorithm and other metodological procedures that will guide the firm to generate the products.

In your opinior, which is the best algorithm to do it? Do you have any paper to help us to decide? Do you have any technical suggestions that we need to require?

Thanks a lot!

Dear Thiago
In my experience I have read many comparison papers recommending Maxent over GAM, BIOCLIM and other models as the best performing algorithm in terms of species distribution range modelling. However, you may face a problem in that Maxent is only licensed for non-profit making use. I understand that you are planning to produce info for a state agency as part of a project as hired consultant. I am afraid that is violating the Maxent license agreement. Anyway good luck.
Regards
