Hello all,

I'm working with Maxent software ver. 3.3.3k and first time that I wanted to run the model I've got the error about geographic dimension, then I fixed the numbers in Notepad and when I wanted to run it again, I got this error : " Error in file .......\aspect.asc: java.io.IOException: Unexpected end of file".
When I use just bioclim data, it doesn't show any error, but every time that I add the "aspect" , "slope", etc. it shows this error. Does it relate to numbers that I've fixed them.

Any help would be greatly approciate,

Thank you,

Ali

This likely has to do with what you altered in Notepad. Are you changing geographic dimensions in Notepad? If so, it's best to work within a software package capable of doing geoprocessing (ArcGIS, QGIS, R, etc.). If not, what exactly did you alter in Notepad?

Hello,

I've been having the same issues. ArcMap wasn't changing the number of columns and rows of my ascii files so I edited my predictors in a text editor and I got the same unexpected end of file error. Any other suggestions on how to edit the rows and columns?

Thanks,

Anjana

Dears Anjana and Ali

Here is the way to produce raster with the same number of rows, columns and cellsize using ARCMAP.

Suppose you are producing a raster of road density then you do the following

That very common with user generated rasters. You need to get your raster in the same dimensions (number of rows and columns) and the same cell size. This can be achived be adopting one of the rasters that you got for the internet ( ex: bioclim rasters) as a template. So when you start the road density in ArcMap specify the environment settings (Raster analysis)  to this template raster (see picture)

1

2

And also specify the extent settings and snap to raster to your raster template also.

3

Then convert this resulting esri grid to ASCII grid. This will correct the error you are receiving and will set maxent to continue working with all your environmental rasters

Hope this helps
