I'm new in Maxent and species distribution modelling.

I would like to ask what is the proper way to select variables for a model.
If I run a model in Maxent and then from the outputs I re run the model only with the variables that are highly contributed in the model, is a proper way?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Dimitris

1) Set the scale
2) Find variables that are meanigfull for your studied organism
3) Check for multicollinearity
4) Evolve an expert on the studied group in order to define the variables / look in the literature for
5) Build a model and validate it after

This is what i do in my cases (spiders/reptiles/amphibians/fish)

Best

D.
