I am new to using MAXENT and GIS (research for my M.Sc. thesis). I am having some trouble figuring out how I prepare the 'current' bioclim data from worldclim for use in MAXENT.

If somebody could talk me through the simplest way of doing this it would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Billy

Hi Billy,

Many tutorials online, see https://www.google.com/#q=prepare+worldclim+maxent

Among them, this one by Jason Brown (author of SDMToolbox) is very detailed: http://www.jasonleebrown.org/SDMtoolbox/current/User_Guide_SDMtoolbox_Chp5.pdf

Note it's also possible to run the whole workflow within R, e.g. see https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/dismo/vignettes/sdm.pdf OR https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/zoon/vignettes/basic-zoon-usage.html

Good luck

Whatever you do Billy, make sure that you do the same thing to all the files. So if you clip them to a particular size, do the same for each.

If you don't do this Maxent will complain. Are you going to use ArcGis or Qgis for mapping?

Cheers,
Steve

Billy, this was covered in a comprehensive (sort of), if not long, string of posts:

Hi Billy,

I find in ArcGIS it's best to set it up with model builder. Put all your bioclim rasters in a folder and ue the iterate raster iterator in ArcGIS. From there do all your clipping, projecting, masking, etc.
