Come join us as we host John Holder, the premier tool sharpening expert on the island. John has been professionally sharpening a wide variety of tools for decades. You have likely have seen his mobile service truck near many of the hairstyling salons on the island as he sharpens their high quality scissors. Or, if you go to the weekly swap meet at UHMC, you have certainly seen him in his booth where he sells a wide variety of razor sharp knives and scissors and sharpens anything with an edge that people bring to him.

John will be telling the assembled group the basic techniques of sharpening an edge correctly and demonstrating his techniques and the tools he uses. Knife edges will be covered first and then scissors. Bring whatever sharpening tools you may have and John will show you how to use them to their greatest effectiveness. He will also be demonstrating the correct techniques for sharpening larger tools like axe heads and lathe tools.

Bring a tool you would like to have sharpened, perhaps John will choose yours to sharpen as a demonstration.
