Hello,

We recently did a simple integration of your MathJax into our Moodle
1.9 site. We ran into an issue with Internet Explorer 7,8, and 9 not
displaying the formulas properly; which is because IE parses out some
of the html from Moodle. We wanted to use Mathplayer as an
accessibility option for students. However, it appears that Mathplayer
is only a plugin built for IE. Since, IE will not properly display the
formulas in Moodle (Chrome and Firefox will) we are kind of stuck at
this point. My questions are have you had any contact with anyone else
who uses Moodle 1.9 and IE not correctly displaying it and is there
any availability for Mathplayer to function in Firefox or Chrome? We
have had limited experience with this and are just trying to get
direction in proceeding forth with this.

Thank you for any help you can provide,
Nick Hallgren

Hi Nick,

We at Design Science, makers of MathPlayer, are very interested in
bringing its math-to-speech capabilities to browsers other than IE. I
can't promise when this will happen but we are working on it.

I will leave it to others to comment on the other issues you raise.

Nick,

There is a broad ranging discussion of math tools, including MathJax,
on the Moodle.org forums, including discussion of using Internet
Explorer. There is also some discussion of using open tools for
playback of mathml ( for example,
http://speechus.texthelp.com/demopages/MathML/MathML.xhtml or
http://www.firevox.clcworld.net/), which allow you then to abandon
attempting to support IE. I know Mauno has been fiddling with IE for
some time and Jonathan Fine had posted about IE issues as well.

I do not fully understand what you are saying, here. Can you be more
specific about what is happening? MathJax does work with IE (versions
6 through 9), so if you are having a problem with that, it should be
solvable. If you could point to a page that is exhibiting the
problem, or provide a more complete description of what you are
seeing, that might help.
