Hello,

Nasketucket Bay State Reservation, Mattapoisett, MA: 11:20am-1:15pm
66 degrees, very windy by the beach.

Monarch 3
American Lady 1
Pearl Crescent 6 (4 worn, 2 mint)

Orange Sulphur 7
Clouded Sulphur 3
Cabbage White 3

WHITE-M HAIRSTREAK 2
Gray Hairstreak 3 (very worn)
Eastern Tailed Blue 5

Crane WMA, Falmouth, MA 2:15-4:00pm
63 degrees, windy.

Butterflies 0

New England Buckmoth 1 *

* I found this moth tumbling end over end down the trail.  It was too cold and windy to effectively fly.  As I was taking pictures, it crashed onto my hand and happily stayed there for 10 minutes to warm up before flying off.

Michael-

The Hemileuca you are seein in Frances Crane are not Hemileuca lucina, but rather H. maia

They are overall darker in color, less transparent and require more wet areas.

Sorry ignore the last paragraph! I mixed my words.

Hemileuca maia: darker, less translucent, scrub oak specialist

Hemileuca lucina: lighther, more translucent, more widespread, requires more wet areas, Spirea specialist.
