Hello,

Does anyone know if the MBTA Realtime API alerts query returns information regarding boats or ferries alerts as a "mode_type"?

Thank you!
Lauren

Haven't seen any alerts for the ferries (we don't support ferries via our UI), but the MBTA does honor a request of the form:

http://realtime.mbta.com/developer/api/v2/alertsbyroute?api_key=<your key>&route=Boat-F1&include_access_alerts=true&include_service_alerts=true&format=json

The 3 ferries routes are:

Boat-F1
Boat-F3
Boat-F4

Requests for alerts for those 3 routes do not produce errors but currently return no alerts, so you can't really tell if the MBTA is providing alerts for ferries or not.

If you request alerts for all routes via:

http://realtime.mbta.com/developer/api/v2/alerts?api_key=<your key>&include_access_alerts=true&include_service_alerts=true&format=json

you get lots of alert data but nothing for the ferries.

Maybe the MBTA can confirm whether alerts for ferries are available.

Ferry alerts are supported just like other MBTA modes. Ferry alerts are rare; there were two in October (one cancelled trip and a schedule change reminder) and none so far this month.

Sincerely,
developer@mbta
