Hi There

I am trying to add a whole world image that exactly overlays a google map with default projection at a zoom level of 2 with the following bounds -

From google maps -

    -148.75 -54.68838183812855 -172.75 80.95214165546074

Adjusted for MapTiler -

    -148.75 -54.68838183812855 188.75 80.95214165546074

I am getting two issues -

1. The image gets distorted the further it gets away from the equator.
2. The image seems misaligned

See image below -

Hopefully you can guide me with fixing this issue. If I can get the demo version working I will happily purchase this software.

Hi Adam,

I expect your map is already drawn in Mercator projection, so it had exactly the same shape as Google Maps originally.

In such case you have to specify during the georeferencing the Mercator system as well and provide the coordinates in meters, not in WGS84 latitude / longitude.

You definitely must choose:

- Coordinate system
- "Web Mercator (EPSG:3857)"

Then, as the next step, you can either
- use the visual georeferencing described http://youtu.be/eJxdCe9CNYg (after the mentioned coordinate system has been selected)
or
- provide the bounding box with the two pairs of coordinates in meters. Such coordinates are large numbers - copy&pastable for example from http://epsg.io/3857/map or http://www.maptiler.org/photoshop-google-maps-overlay-tiles/

Regards,

Petr
