Maybe I still just need to get used to the vehicle, but man I suck! Oh well.
I've got a nice force feedback racing wheel set up at the space now. Assetto Corsa is open on the graphics computer at the moment. Please feel free to take it for a spin!
No Oculus yet, but only because I need to write a paper rather than playing. It does have Oculus support in the game, so leave some instructions if you get that part working!
We ought to have a drunk driving workshop sometime. (not, you know, that I'd ever condone drunk driving on actual streets, but with a sufficiently realistic simulator what else immediately comes to mind?? :-)
This is preparation for a couple inter-related projects I want to get some help working on this summer:
--driving simulator motion platform
--Eric's motocycle project is no more, so I have a motorcycle frame to play with. Assetto Corsa is very customizable. I'd like to get some weight sensors to play with bike balance as an input mechanism
--haptic feedback. There's a nice TI development board that would be fun to play with.
If we do get the bike simulator and the car simulator both done, Assetto Corsa is capable of multi-player! It's also possible to use the engine with new graphic overlays, so this may become the basis of some 3D model and animation design workshops eventually.
Too much fun, not enough time :-)
Thx,
Derek
