Department Description | The college is home to nearly 1,600 students and is located on the campus of Cleveland State University in the heart of downtown Cleveland – a highly industrialized metropolitan area that includes more than one-fifth of the state’s population. Since 1923, the Washkewicz (Fenn) College of Engineering at Cleveland State University has provided a tradition of high quality undergraduate and graduate education in engineering and engineering technology. In today’s technology-driven world, engineering is increasingly important to the global marketplace. Because the present and future well-being of the United States is intrinsically linked with continued industrial growth, trained engineering professionals and technologists are thus increasingly in great demand. |

Job Summary | Manages the Dan T. Moore (DTM) Makerspace Laboratory, an education facility that provides a flexible environment to educate the CSU engineering community through collaboration, innovation and creativity. Responsible for day to day operations and oversight of all DTM Makerspace facilities, employees and students. Assists faculty, staff and students in development of projects to satisfy curricular needs. Coordinating the DTM Makerspace budget. Responsible for fundraising to support the operation of the DTM Makerspace by providing development assistance and promoting the laboratory within Cleveland State and in the local and regional community. Interacts professionally with all internal and external customers using strong interpersonal skills. |
Minimum Qualifications | Associate’s degree in an engineering or engineering technology discipline and six years paid work experience in an industrial or educational setting with demonstrated emphasis on engineering or technological laboratory teaching or management, OR a bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years paid work experience in an industrial or educational setting with demonstrated emphasis on engineering technology laboratory teaching or management. Demonstrated knowledge of current traditional and advanced manufacturing technologies and processes, including operation of all related equipment. Proven supervisory and training experience. Demonstrated ability to develop and administer operating budgets. Demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards. Demonstrated ability to work and collaborate with a diverse group of faculty, students and staff. Proficient oral and written communication and presentation skills. PC proficiency. |
Preferred Qualifications | Graduate degree in an engineering, business or related field. Minimum of 8 years paid experience in management of an engineering or related laboratory. Knowledge and experience in website design, creation and management. Record of preparing and submitting funded proposals. Demonstrated experience in project fundraising. Experience managing operating budgets and monitoring expenses in a technological setting. Record of broad community involvement, including K-12 education outreach. |
