We are having our weekly free and open to the public hours tomorrow, officially starting at 7pm, but I’ll likely be at the space by 6 (traffic permitting). For those coming by for the first time, the address is 3558 Lee Road, Shaker Heights 44120 (aka ’The Dealership’). Park in the north lot, and come all the way around to the very back of the building. You’ll pass through the Tunnel Vision Hoops area to get to our area.

Agenda:
-To start the year off right, we’re going to do a group project!
We’re going to work on implementing some decent dust collection for the Shop Zone. This will involve cutting & gluing PVC pipe and fittings, and setting up our new mobile dust collection bench. If necessary, we may end up 3D printing some hose adapters and whatnot as well.
-I also found some more bins for organizing, so I expect some more things will get organized ;-)
-We may continue assembling the Snappy. We’ll definitely continue printing parts for it...
-If those doesn’t strike your fancy, there will also be the typical Open Hours- bring something to work on and/or show off!

See you there,

Sam

Another fun night!
-Dust collection project had a couple of minor setbacks (wrong PVC size, cyclone didn’t get delivered until after I’d left for the space), but we did rough out a small section. Next time?
-Lots of progress by a good sized crowd on a number of projects, so that was really cool!
-Snappy now has a mostly complete X-axis to go with its Y-axis. Z will still be a bit- lots of parts for that still have to be printed.
-There’s nothing there yet, but I did set up a YouTube Channel for the space today. Seems like it could be handy. Feel free to subscribe and see what gets done with it: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEdW-3uYpVIweUXd_C5ufRQ/ (we’re 30 days and 99 subscribers away from a custom URL…)

Picture attached of the loft bed I was working on during Open Hours. Fits a full size mattress and was less than $200 for materials. This is the second one I've made this year and the plans are really easy to customize to whatever space you have; I highly recommend it if you've been looking for a raised bed: https://www.collegebedlofts.com
