I am looking to commission someone with 3D modeling skills to laser scan an object and prepare it for 3D printing. We have access to a high end ROMER scan arm (at one of the schools downtown) or you could use a different scanner if you prefer. It is very likely that you will need to do a lot of adjustments to the final scans in your preferred software. Final output file needs to be a print ready STL.

The object is a softball sized sphere with engravings and raised (and symmetrical) surface detail.

Timeframe is flexible, but I'd like to have it wrapped up within the next month.

Compensation will be based on your quote or estimate. I am a freelance web developer so I know how it works.

Here is a photo of what you would be modeling: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0NppQhr2wl8QXUzc2hHVmJDVFU

However please note that the item to be scanned is encapsulated in clear plastic, which will likely cause interference in the scans that will need to be cleared up. Here's what I mean: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0NppQhr2wl8S3oySHJsblFzcWc

Let me know if you are interested.
