What is the best way to deal with pre-tangled spools? My filament is running under itself and of course once the printer gets there it seizes up, the spool stops spinning, the nozzle stops feeding, and the print is as good as over.

I've gone so far as to basically respool this one spool I have, It seems to have the worst of this issue. However, it seems to just come back anyway.

Thanks

Best way to deal with it is buy quality filament. I have yet to run into a tangle on Botfeeder, MBI or Colorfabb filament. Ran into a lot of tangles with the cheap stuff though, it's not cheap when it toasts a print every second time you use it. ;)

Looks like I won't be buying makergeek filament anymore. It's the same price as Zen tool works, yet Zen tool works almost never snags.

Thanks

But, if you're not careful, the face may fall off of one side of the spool
with Zen toolworks. That based upon three samples so it may have been a
fluke of one day's factory production that the spools didn't have the
faces solvent welded to the spool core. But, be careful.

Noted.

I have a small army of Zen spools, haven't had that problem.

Dan,

I've used 30+ rolls of Zen PLA....never had a bit of problem. They have the cardboard sides not plastic. Never had a tangle or crazy filament OD problems. Same with (Joseph's) Prototype Supply Filament on Amazon (EXCELLENT STUFF !!!). Also I've started using a new guy too....G Star Filament. VERY consistent.

Makerbot? Blech...I had a roll of brand new white PLA that, in about a 14" area, went from 2.1mm to 1.20mm then back to 2.1mm (!!!!)...stopped a print dead. Luckily I am just using up my MBI filament for testing...but still...
